My name is Khadeeja. I am an A&R for an independent record label based in Maryland and I wanted to do this bike ride because I've always wanted to join a campaign I believe in. The idea of this bike ride had so much to offer. It's a chance to form a family with people around the country whom I've never met but would be alongside me as we ride our own ride together as one. Abuse has hit me in a personal way from a 3 year relationship with an ex to watching others go through tumultulous relationships. I've known people who've delt with abuse from a child growing up to adults who had no idea how to determine if it was abuse they were going through or thinking it was the normal way to deal with certain situations. I'm in love with knowing that, no matter where you've been, who you are, or what you've gone through you can make the best out of a horrible situation once you find strength in yourself because sometimes you can't get a rainbow without the rain but once you do get the rainbow you remember that there's a reason for everything. I once read from a friend who wrote, "Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together," and I couldn't agree more.
